Five days of Volksfest in the Remstal with a brass music festival and 125th anniversary
The Plüderhäuser Festtage are among the most traditional Volksfeste in the Württembergian Remstal — and thus in the Ostalbkreis or Rems-Murr-Kreis districts (Plüderhausen is located in the Rems-Murr-Kreis, state of Baden-Württemberg). Organized jointly by five local clubs and held for decades at the Gänswasen festival grounds on the outskirts of the town, the festival combines brass music, showmen, a parade, and a children's program in a five-day format.
In 2026, the 62nd edition coincides with the 125th birthday of the Plüderhausen Rifle Club — one of the driving forces behind the festival days. This doubly accentuates the program: in addition to the traditional Sunday parade, the Rifle Club will contribute its own elements to the anniversary — salutes, historical costumes, anniversary concerts.
The musical highlight is the 13th Rems Regio Brass Music Festival, which runs parallel to the festival days. Brass bands from the entire Remstal region perform on the main stage — and by special invitation, the Musikverein Steinegg from the Eggental valley in South Tyrol comes as an international guest. The partnership between Plüderhausen and Steinegg has grown over the years.
Besides the major stage moments, the festival days thrive on detailed programming: duck races on the Plüderhäuser Bach stream, an afternoon of games for children, carousels, showman attractions, and evening dance events with local bands. Admission to the festival grounds is free — you only pay for the stalls and rides. Traditional costumes (Dirndl, Lederhosen) are welcome at the parade.
With around 9,500 inhabitants, Plüderhausen is located in the middle Remstal, between Schorndorf and Schwäbisch Gmünd. The Remstal is known for its wine, its fruit orchards, and its festival culture — the Plüderhäuser Festtage are a central date in the regional festival calendar.
The 62nd edition of the festival days is marked by a double anniversary: 125 years of the Plüderhausen Rifle Club plus the 13th Rems Regio Brass Music Festival. Five local clubs share the organization and catering — from the fire brigade to sports and music clubs, and a traditional costume group. The Gänswasen festival grounds belong to them for five days.
