Romantic Arts and Crafts Market in the Rose Garden of Schloss Eulenbroich with the Awarding of the "Rose for Rösrath"
When high summer bathes the Bergisches Land in warm light, Schloss Eulenbroich in Rösrath invites you to one of the most charming market weekends of the year: the Schlosspartie. On Saturday, August 1st, and Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, the castle courtyard, park, and rose garden will transform into a romantic arts and crafts market with over 100 carefully selected exhibitors.
The offerings are deliberately curated: no mass-produced goods, no industrial stands. Over the two days, around 100 exhibitors will present their works in the areas of art, crafts, design, fashion, jewelry, plants, and specialties. The stalls are spread along the castle paths, in the rose garden, and in the inner courtyard — a literal "Schlosspartie" (castle party), where the castle itself becomes the backdrop for encounters with craftsmanship.
Pianist Milan von der Gracht will provide musical accompaniment for the weekend — piano melodies will drift through the castle park, giving the market a special acoustic. For children, there is an attractive offer: the Ice Princess will visit the market daily from 3 PM to 5 PM and will be available for the youngest visitors — a magnet that will draw families throughout the weekend.
The highlight of the Schlosspartie is the awarding of the "Rose for Rösrath". This symbolic award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the community — volunteer work, social initiatives, cultural activities. The organizers put it this way: a symbol of "appreciation, connection, and vibrant togetherness." This makes the Schlosspartie not just a market, but also a civic ritual.
Schloss Eulenbroich in Rösrath is a former moated castle with origins dating back to the 12th century. Today, it is a versatile cultural and event center — registry office, concert hall, conference venue, and the annual market venue. Its location on the edge of the Bergisches Land, just 20 kilometers from Cologne, makes the market an attractive day trip destination for Cologne residents as well.
Admission is €7 per day for adults, €3 for concessions (severely disabled with ID), and free for children under 14. Parking is free. The grounds are partially accessible, and dogs on a leash are welcome. Opening hours: Saturday 11:00 AM–7:00 PM, Sunday 11:00 AM–6:00 PM.
Rösrath, with just over 29,000 inhabitants, is located in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis, southeast of Cologne. The town is characterized by the Königsforst, one of the largest contiguous forest areas in the region — a classic excursion destination for Cologne residents. The Schlosspartie is one of the town's most important cultural highlights in its event calendar.
