The largest civic festival in the Bergisches Land region, in the heart of Rösrath
The Rösrather Stadtfest is the largest one-day event in the town of around 28,000 inhabitants in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis. Organized by the association Gemeinsam für Rösrath e.V. since 2011, it turns the central axis between Bensberger Straße and Sülztalplatz into a showcase for local clubs, retailers, and gastronomy. Strolling down the main street on a single Sunday, visitors experience what shapes Rösrath in everyday life — from the savings bank to the water aerobics group.
An open-air stage in the center of the festival mile hosts events throughout the day, interspersed with performances by local dance schools, community choirs, and bands. Several dozen club stands line the street — from scouts and carnival societies to sports clubs and social initiatives. Between them are food stalls, cafés, and cocktail bars, characterizing a classic Stadtfest day in the Bergisches region.
In parallel with the Stadtfest, the shops on the main street and in the adjacent centers are open — Rösrath uses the date for Sunday shopping. For many visitors from neighboring communities, this is the main motivation: combining a stroll, window shopping, and a family Sunday outdoors.
The association Gemeinsam für Rösrath e.V. has existed for over 15 years and unites citizens, clubs, and businesses in the town. In addition to the Stadtfest, it organizes the Spring Festival, the Winter Market, the St. Martin's Day procession, and the Rose Monday parade. Exhibitors can register via the association's website — the call for applications for 2026 is already open.
Rösrath is located immediately southeast of Cologne, at the transition from the Rhineland to the Bergisches Land. The town is divided into several districts, but the Stadtfest is concentrated in the historic old town around Sülztalplatz — a district that has gained a unified urban profile through the renovation of the main street.
As every year since 2011, the association Gemeinsam für Rösrath e.V. invites you to the Stadtfest on the first Sunday in September. In 2026, this will likely be Sunday, September 6. The official program is not yet finalized at the time of this review — exhibitors can already register via the association's website.
The festival mile traditionally stretches for several hundred meters along the main street. The stage program, carousels for children, cocktail stands, and the club mile are integral parts of the event. In parallel, shops will open for Sunday shopping.
The complete 2026 program with stage times and bands will be published on gemeinsam-fuer-roesrath.de by August at the latest.
