The Prüfening Castle Garden

The Prüfening Castle Garden is located in western Regensburg, in close proximity to the former Benedictine monastery of Prüfening. The historic park with its old trees and spacious lawns was reopened as a venue in 2021. Since 2024, the KulturAgentur Alex Bolland has been using it for a concert series that combines the best of Bavarian cabaret, tribute bands, and pop acts.

Regensburg in Summer

Regensburg, a district-free city in the state of Bavaria and the seat of the Upper Palatinate administrative region, is a tourist magnet in summer with its UNESCO World Heritage Old Town. While the city center offers concerts on Haidplatz and Bismarckplatz, the castle garden in Prüfening offers the quieter, more atmospheric alternative — open-air concerts in a historic park, with a picnic character but reserved seating.

The Program: Cabaret Meets Tribute

The range is unusually broad: ABBA tributes (One Night in Sweden) and Queen tributes alongside Gerhard Polt with the Well Brothers, Pam Pam Ida, I Dolci Signori (Italian pop), Steffi Denk & Friends, Maybebop, as well as Munich singer-songwriter greats like Dreiviertelblut and Martina Schwarzmann. Christian Steiffen, who declares himself the "God of Schlager," is also part of the program. Each evening begins at 7:30 PM, with admission from 6:00 PM — a proven dramaturgy for balmy summer evenings.

Reserved Seats, Intimate Atmosphere

Unlike classic open-air festivals, the audience sits in numbered seats. This creates a concentrated concert atmosphere where the stage remains the focal point and the acoustics in the enclosed castle garden reach their optimum.

A Quickly Established Series

Since its launch in 2024, the Schlossgarten Open Air has established itself as a summer fixture in Regensburg's cultural scene within two years. The series combines the expertise of KulturAgentur Alex Bolland (which has been co-shaping Regensburg's cultural life for years) with a venue that is second to none in the city.
