Regensburg's big children's and family festival
The Kinderbürgerfest Regensburg is one of the largest family events in Eastern Bavaria – with around 30,000 visitors, it's a day when the Stadtpark is firmly in the hands of families from the Regensburg area. Unlike the city's classic folk festivals (Volksfeste), the focus here is not on the beer tent, but on the hands-on program for children aged 0 to 16.
50 associations, organizations, and companies
Around 50 exhibitors present their offerings: sports clubs for trial training, youth fire brigades with the chance to ride in a fire engine, social welfare organizations with craft and creative activities, local companies with workshops, cultural associations with performances, the Johanniter with first-aid stations for children, beekeepers, nature conservation associations, dance schools, and many more. Every stand emphasizes participation, not consumption.
Show program and family activities
Throughout the day, show performances will take place on the main stage: dance groups from Regensburg schools, acrobatics by sports acrobats, music bands from youth orchestras, short plays. On the meadow, there are several bouncy castles, craft stations, and play streets. In the wooded areas of the Stadtpark, there are stations for climbing and activities. At the food stalls, associations sell at fair prices: fries, sausages, crêpes, ice cream, and vegetarian options.
Regensburg Stadtpark as a festival backdrop
The Regensburg Stadtpark is one of the city's central green spaces – a spacious English garden with old trees, meadows, playgrounds, and water features, nestled between the old town and the university. It's ideal for the Kinderbürgerfest: plenty of shade under the old trees, large meadows for the bouncy castles, stage locations with good visibility. Regensburg, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the capital of the Upper Palatinate, with about 160,000 inhabitants, is one of Bavaria's most dynamic cities – the Kinderbürgerfest reflects this young, family-oriented side of the city.
