Stretch Opens the Year at Tanzfabrik

For years, the Stretch Festival has been a fixture in Berlin's queer workshop scene. The organizer is the association we.are.village e.V., which organizes a three-day retreat format three times a year — spring, summer, autumn — for gay, bisexual, trans, and queer men* as well as non-binary individuals. The Spring 2026 edition runs from April 3rd to 5th and is the first of the three Stretch weekends in the annual program.

New Venue: Tanzfabrik Kreuzberg

Unlike the summer and autumn editions, which take place at Village.Berlin in Schöneberg, the spring edition uses the Tanzfabrik Berlin on Möckernstraße in Kreuzberg. Since 1978, Tanzfabrik has been a central institution of the Berlin dance and performance scene, offering spacious studios particularly suitable for bodywork, movement formats, and performance workshops.

What to Expect

During a typical Stretch day, three to five workshop slots run in parallel — you choose freely, switch between studios, and reconvene with the group for meals and reflection sessions. The thematic areas include:

• Bodywork: Yoga, dance, breathing techniques, somatic practice
• Mindfulness: Meditation, mindfulness, self-experience
• Sexuality, Intimacy, Consent: queer desire landscapes, Tantra, touch
• Psychology and Identity: Masculinity, relationship dynamics, self-care
• Spirituality and Ritual: queer rituals, shamanism, contemplative forms
• Art and Performance: Voice, movement, improvisation
• Social Engagement: Discussion rounds, activism, community building

Small, International, English-Speaking

Stretch is limited to 120 participants per day — a conscious decision for depth and trust. The event language is English, making Stretch a strongly international meeting point for the queer bodywork and spirituality scene.

Sensual | Experimental | Spiritual

The 2026 festival motto — Sensual | Experimental | Spiritual — encapsulates the three poles around which Stretch's curatorial concept is oriented. It's less about consumption and more about practice: spaces where queer experiences can move corporeally, intimately, and communally.
