Halloween weekend with costumes, children's haunted castle, and entertainment in Schloss Beck amusement park, Bottrop-Kirchhellen
The Schloss Beck amusement park is located in the Kirchhellen district of Bottrop, on the northwestern edge of the Ruhr area. For decades, a family amusement park has developed around the baroque moated castle from the 18th century, deliberately focusing on carousels, water attractions, fairy tale motifs, and child-friendly fun – a contrast to the large roller coaster parks in the neighborhood (Phantasialand, Toverland, Movie Park right next door).
On one weekend in October, the park transforms for the Autumn and Ghost Festival. The park embraces the Halloween theme, but in a child-friendly way: no splatter productions, no scares for adults. Instead, "dressing up is explicitly encouraged for the ghost festival!" – Children in costume receive reduced admission of €12.
The highlight is the Children's Haunted Castle with "real ghosts and witches" – actors in costume who greet the younger visitors in the castle vaults, guide them through rooms, and arrange small scares. The whole experience remains family-friendly; parents can easily accompany children aged 4 and up through the spooky passages.
In addition to the haunted castle, the normal amusement park program runs: carousels, water organ, the fairy tale boat, the boulevard with Punch and Judy shows, the log flume. Added to this are ghost-themed entertainment, games, and shows – such as face painting, pumpkin crafting activities, costume parades for children.
Schloss Beck is located in Bottrop-Kirchhellen, a quiet district in the north of Bottrop with a rural character. You can reach the park from the Ruhr area and the Lower Rhine via the A31 (Kirchhellen exit). Day trips are worthwhile from Düsseldorf, Cologne, or the Bergisches Land for the Halloween weekend, especially when the commercial large-scale Halloween events at Movie Park or Phantasialand are too intense for the little ones.
Day tickets are sold online or at the box office. Season tickets remain valid. Reduced admission of €12 applies to children in Halloween costumes. The remaining day prices are in the typical range for family amusement parks (approx. €18–22 per person).
The 2026 Ghost Festival runs on a weekend in the middle of the NRW autumn holidays – ideal for day trips with children. Dressing up is explicitly encouraged: children in costume pay the reduced admission of €12. In the haunted castle, actresses act as ghosts and witches.
Reduced admission of €12 for costumed children. Adults and children without costumes pay the regular day rate.
Schloss Beck is located in Bottrop-Kirchhellen, Am Dornbusch 39. By car via A31 (Kirchhellen exit) or A2 (Bottrop exit). The park is reachable in 45–90 minutes from Cologne, Düsseldorf, or the Münsterland region. Free parking directly at the park. Public transport via bus from Bottrop-Kirchhellen station.
Reduced admission of €12 for children in Halloween costumes. Regular prices for adults and children without costumes. Season tickets are valid.
Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18, 2026, within the regular Schloss Beck opening hours. Subject to change depending on weather.
