Mallorca Vibe in the North of the Ruhr Area
Bottrop-Kirchhellen is the northernmost district of the Ruhr area city of Bottrop, geographically closer to the Münsterland region than the Ruhr. With around 13,000 inhabitants, the district retains the structure of a small village – parish church, market, long-established clubs, its own identity. The Mallorca Open-Air has been held for years at the Schulte-Kellinghaus festival grounds on Ekampsweg, a private event space on the outskirts – a Schlager party that fits more into the style of Bavarian hut festivals than the classic Ruhr area.
What to Expect at the Schlager Party
The concept is clear: marquee, Schlager music, and Mallorca hits, an early dinner, and non-stop party until midnight.
- Large marquee with a main stage and seating
- Mallorca Schlager Stars live – in 2026 Frenzy, Ina Colada, Almklausi, and Felix Harrer
- Bucket bars and cocktail stands in Mallorca style
- Food stands with bratwurst, fries, burgers, and vegetarian options
- Family-friendly atmosphere – smaller than the Mallorca Festival XXL in Remscheid, but more personal
The Schulte-Kellinghaus Festival Grounds
The Schulte-Kellinghaus festival grounds at Ekampsweg 1 have been an established open-air venue in Kirchhellen for years. The private festival site with a large marquee and ample outdoor space hosts several festivals per year – Schlager parties, country festivals, district festivals. The rural location on the edge of the wooded northern Bottrop gives the site a festival character unmatched in the urban Ruhr area.
Bottrop and its Northern District
Bottrop is an independent city in the Ruhr area, shaped by coal mining and heavy industry – the famous Tetraeder on the Beckstraße slag heap is a city landmark. Kirchhellen, however, incorporated into Bottrop in 1976, has a very distinct, rural character with extensive forests, farms, and its own vibrant club scene. The Mallorca Open-Air is part of this independent Kirchhellen festival culture.
