A Summer Weekend in the Fairytale Leisure Park

Schloss Beck in Bottrop-Kirchhellen is one of the oldest and most charming leisure parks in North Rhine-Westphalia. Around a baroque moated castle from the 18th century, there are play areas, nostalgic rides, a water playground, and themed areas. The Children's and Summer Festival on July 11th and 12th, 2026 marks a highlight in the summer program — a weekend featuring additional stage shows, artist performances, and hands-on activities alongside the regular park operations.

Schloss Beck — History and Park

The actual Schloss Beck is a Rococo-style moated castle built in 1771, surrounded by a wide moat. Since the 1960s, a leisure park has been developed around the castle, deliberately designed to be smaller, more family-friendly, and closer to nature than the large theme parks in the region. Instead of high-speed roller coasters, you'll find gentle carousels, fairytale characters, animal encounters, and a spacious water playground — ideal for families with young children.

Summer Holiday Program

During the North Rhine-Westphalian summer holidays (July 18th to September 1st, 2026), the park's daily summer program runs with performances by the Hanauer Puppenbühne and seasonal promotions. The Children's and Summer Festival on July 11th/12th is the official opening weekend of the summer holiday season.
