46 Years of Wrestedter Herbstmarkt
What began in 1980 as a small harvest festival has developed into one of the most significant events in the calendar of the Aue municipality. The Wrestedter Herbstmarkt celebrates its 46th edition in 2026, representing four decades of village tradition. The organizers are jointly the municipality of Wrestedt and the association Dorfleben Wrestedt e.V., which promotes village life through various activities.
Wrestedt Marktscheune as the Venue
The venue is the Wrestedt Marktscheune at Katerburg 3 — a historic farm building that combines the charm of old rural architecture with the functionality of an event center. Wooden beams, spacious rooms, and the directly adjoining outdoor area make the barn the ideal backdrop for the market, catering, and program.
Motto: Wrestedt — a Village in Motion
The motto “Wrestedt — a village in motion” refers to the dynamism of an active village community. Clubs — sports, fire brigade, rural youth, culture — present their activities. Artisans display their products, direct marketers offer heathland products, and local artists exhibit their work. It is a showcase for what Wrestedt has to offer — and an invitation to participate.
Awards Ceremony on Sunday
A traditional highlight is the awards ceremony on Sunday at 4 PM. Here, awards are presented for special achievements — whether in club life, village development, or the various competitions of the weekend. The ceremony is a moment of public appreciation and strengthens cohesion.
Musical Finale and Fireworks
The evening of Sunday concludes with a concert by the duo Guitarman+Bass — acoustic music, covers, and original pieces in a relaxed atmosphere. The grand finale is a fireworks display that illuminates the Wrestedt sky above the Marktscheune — a traditional closing point that brings the weekend to a festive end.
Market and Catering
Throughout the weekend, market stalls offer arts and crafts, jams, honey, baked goods, regional sausage and cheese specialties, heath sheep products, plants, and decorations. Catering with coffee, cake, bratwurst, kale, and beer makes the market a convivial meeting place.
