The Lausitz Festival was launched in 2020 and sees itself as an artistic response to the structural change in the Lausitz region – an area undergoing fundamental economic and social reorientation as it gradually phases out lignite mining. The festival uses the tension between industrial history, village tradition, and future visions as a creative friction surface. It takes place at venues in Brandenburg (Cottbus, Senftenberg, Schwarzheide) and Saxony (Görlitz, Bautzen, Hoyerswerda, Bad Muskau).
