Schlager parade and open air on St. Pauli
The Schlagermove started in 1997 as a tongue-in-cheek homage to the Love Parade – instead of techno, there was Schlager; instead of Berlin, Hamburg. The Move quickly became a fixture of the Hamburg summer and the largest Schlager parade in Europe. Hundreds of thousands of visitors come every year in 70s outfits, bell-bottoms, glitter platforms, and sequined shirts to follow the floats along the Reeperbahn.
For several years now, the Schlagermove in Concert Open Air has accompanied the parade. On the Friday evening before the actual parade, the organizers set up a large stage on the Heiligengeistfeld, where live acts from the Schlager genre perform one after another – from classics like Wolfgang Petry and Jürgen Drews to younger stars like Mickie Krause, Lorenz Büffel, and Ramon Roselly.
On Saturday afternoon, over 50 trucks start from Heiligengeistfeld and travel for several hours through St. Pauli. Each truck has its own musical direction – with a DJ, sound system, and thematic decoration. The route traditionally leads over Millerntor, Spielbudenplatz, Reeperbahn, and ends back at Heiligengeistfeld. After the parade, the Aftermove party continues in the clubs of the Reeperbahn until late into the night.
The Schlagermove 2026 follows the proven two-day format. Friday, July 3rd: Schlagermove in Concert on the Heiligengeistfeld as a live concert evening under the open sky. Saturday, July 4th: the big parade with over 50 decorated trucks winds through the heart of St. Pauli.
After the parade ends, the Schlager party continues in the Reeperbahn clubs – including the official Aftermove locations Operettenhaus, Klubhaus St. Pauli, and several smaller Schlager bars. Aftermove tickets are sold separately.
Subway U3 Feldstraße, or S/U Reeperbahn / St. Pauli. Due to road closures during the parade, it is essential to travel by public transport.
The parade on the Reeperbahn is free to experience. The Schlagermove in Concert Open Air on Friday requires a ticket.
70s outfits, bell-bottoms, platform shoes, glitter – those who come without a costume will stand out the most on Schlagermove day in St. Pauli.
