Vatertag in Herreth

The Schlachtfest of the Herreth Volunteer Fire Brigade is a fixture in the event calendar of the Coburg region and part of the rich tradition of Franconian Schlachtfeste. It takes place annually on Ascension Day – the classic Vatertag – in the Festhalle Herreth, located on the connecting road towards Draisdorf. The organizer is the FFW Herreth, which finances its youth work and equipment with the proceeds.

Schlachtfest with Kesselfleisch and Coffee

The gastronomic offer follows the classic Schlachtfest concept: Kesselfleisch, Bratwürste, Steaks, as well as coffee and cake – both available from the morning onwards. The Festhalle offers seating; in good weather, an outdoor area is used. Free admission, payment only at the counter. The event starts at 9:00 AM.

Itzgrund and the Coburg Region

Itzgrund is a municipality in the Coburg district, formed from several historical villages along the Itz river. Herreth is one of these villages – small, with an active fire brigade and a strong community life. The Schlachtfest is one of the highlights of the Itzgrund festival calendar and an attraction for hikers and cyclists in the Itz Valley, who traditionally combine Vatertag with a visit to a Schlachtfest.
