About Dorffest Schorkendorf
Dorffest Schorkendorf — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Dorffest follows the established choreography of the Schorkendorf Whit Monday. Starting on Whit Monday, May 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM with the traditional ecumenical service in the open air — jointly organized by the Catholic and Protestant parishes of the Ahorn municipality.
From 11:00 AM, the festival activities begin at Siedlerplatz. The Siedlergemeinschaft Schorkendorf will host its guests with Upper Franconian specialties — Sauerbraten with dumplings and red cabbage, Schäufele (cured pork shoulder, the Upper Franconian festive dish), Bratwurst, steaks, fish rolls, and vegan dishes from a food truck. Accompanied by coffee and homemade cakes in the afternoon, and freshly tapped Staffelberg-Bräu beer.
For children: bouncy castle, playground, face painting. At 5:00 PM, the grand raffle/lottery will take place — the traditional closing event of the day, bringing many Schorkendorf residents together.

Dorffest Schorkendorf — Whit Monday in the Coburg Region
The Dorffest Schorkendorf is a classic Upper Franconian village festival organized by the settlers' association. The Siedlergemeinschaft Schorkendorf e.V. — the local homeowners' association — has been organizing the festival for decades as an annual gathering for the settlers' community and the residents of Schorkendorf. Last year, 2025, the association itself celebrated its 50th anniversary as part of this festival — proof of the event's deep roots in village life.
Schorkendorf in the Municipality of Ahorn — Coburg Region
Schorkendorf is a district of the municipality of Ahorn in the Coburg district of Upper Franconia (Bavaria). Ahorn — not to be confused with other German places named Ahorn — is located south of the city of Coburg, in the hilly Coburg region. The municipality consists of several districts, including Schorkendorf. The rural landscape between Coburg and the Bavarian Rhön forms the backdrop for the village festival.
Whit Monday — The Traditional Date
The village festival takes place every year on Whit Monday — a public holiday in Bavaria, when many club festivals are held in Upper Franconia. Whit Monday 2026 falls on May 25, which is why the festival in 2026 will be celebrated on this date.
Schedule of the Festival Day
- 10:00 AM — ecumenical open-air service at Siedlerplatz, jointly organized by the Protestant and Catholic parishes
- 11:00 AM — start of festival activities with welcome and catering
- during the day — children's playground, bouncy castle, face painting for the little ones
- afternoon — coffee and homemade cakes
- 5:00 PM — grand lottery/raffle
- evening — relaxed conclusion in the festival tent
Food and Drinks
The culinary offerings are diverse — typically Upper Franconian, but with modern touches:
- Sauerbraten with dumplings and red cabbage or Schäufele (Upper Franconian specialty: cured pork shoulder)
- Bratwurst and steaks from the grill
- Fish rolls
- Vegan dishes from a food truck — a modern addition that makes the festival attractive for non-meat eaters too
- Coffee and homemade cakes in the afternoon
- Staffelberg-Bräu beer — an Upper Franconian brewery from Bad Staffelstein (see also the Bad Staffelsteiner Bierbrauerfest)
Family-Friendly Atmosphere
The Dorffest Schorkendorf maintains a distinctly family-friendly character. The playground, bouncy castle, face painting, and short distances make it a suitable meeting point for families from the Coburg region — both for Schorkendorf residents and visitors from Coburg, Ahorn, and the surrounding area. The ecumenical opening service underscores the village's Christian character.
