The Municipality's Largest Club Festival
Schirmitz is a small municipality in the Upper Palatinate district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab, located directly east of Weiden in der Oberpfalz. It doesn't have its own 'Kirchweih' (church consecration festival) as its main event (Schirmitz is a branch parish of Weiden and Neustadt), but it does have the Dorffest — organised every two years by the Vereinskartell, an association of all local clubs.
Who Organises It
The Vereinskartell unites the most important local clubs:
- Sports Club (SpVgg) Schirmitz
- Schirmitz Volunteer Fire Brigade
- Singing Club
- Cycling Club
- other local clubs and initiatives
Each club manages at least one stand along the festival mile — offering food, drinks, or interactive activities.
The Festival Mile Between School and Bank
Unlike a festival tent event, the Schirmitz Dorffest takes place directly on the village street. The main street between the school and the bank is closed off and transforms on festival day into a colourful mile with stands, several stages, a children's zone, and a dedicated wine bar in the village square. From 6:00 PM onwards, the mile is decorated with colourful lighting.

2026 — The Comeback Date
The 12th edition took place in 2025. The 13th edition is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2026. A special feature of the 2026 edition, according to the organisers: a fire show for the first time in five years.
Schirmitz in the Upper Palatinate Festival Calendar
In addition to the Dorffest on June 13th, other Schirmitz dates are in the calendar for 2026: the Kolping family's wine festival on July 4th (Jakobsklause) and the "Bankerlfest" (bench festival) of the Oberpfälzer Waldverein (OWV) Schirmitz on August 30th in the new residential area. Schirmitz is thus a vibrant club village throughout the summer.
Dorffest Schirmitz — edition 2026
The 13th edition of the Schirmitz Dorffest continues the tradition of the club festival. From early afternoon, the stands along the festival mile open, and the children's area with a bouncy castle, carousel, and pony rides is also available from the afternoon. As darkness falls, the festival mile is decorated with colourful lighting from 6:00 PM onwards.
The emotional climax is the fire show starting at 10:30 PM — the first time in five years since the pandemic-related break. Detailed programmes from individual clubs and exact performance times of the bands will be published by the Vereinskartell on the municipal website and via club channels.

Saturday, June 13, 2026 — Schedule
- Early Afternoon — Opening of the festival mile, Children's Land starts (bouncy castle, carousel, face painting, glitter tattoos, pony rides, ice cream stand)
- Afternoon — Performances by Line Dancers and folk musicians on the stages along the festival mile
- 6:00 PM — Colourful lighting of the festival mile switches on
- Evening — Main concert with "Tine und Band" on the main stage
- Throughout — Catering at the club stands: Schaschlik, Currywurst, French Fries, Hamburgers, Fish Rolls (SpVgg), Flammkuchen, Ćevapčići, Bratwurst, Döner, sweet pastries
- In the village square — Wine bar
- 10:30 PM — Fire show to conclude (first time in five years)

Getting There
Schirmitz is located directly east of Weiden in der Oberpfalz, in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district. By car via the A93 (exit Weiden-Nord or -West) or by train to Weiden, then continue by bus.
Admission
Free admission. Food, drinks, and children's land activities are available directly at the club stands.
Tip
Keep your evening free — the fire show to conclude the festival from 10:30 PM is back on the programme in 2026 for the first time in five years.
