Bavarian Wiesn on the Rur
The RurWiesn Jülich is the 1st edition of a new Oktoberfest format for the region between Düren, Aachen, and Cologne. The organizer is Plantikow Catering, a catering and event company based in Jülich, positioning the event as a culinary and musical highlight in the autumn calendar.
When and Where?
The venue is the Kulturmuschel Jülich — a distinctive open-air stage on the Brückenkopf-Park axis in the south of the city. The date: Saturday, October 10, 2026. This premiere falls classically within the Oktoberfest season, shortly after the Munich original and before other regional Wiesn events in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Bavarian Culinary Delights
The focus is on authentic Bavarian gastronomy: König Ludwig Hell will be served on tap, accompanied by Brettljause — the classic Bavarian snack platter with sausage, cheese, radish, and fresh bread. Those who have been to the Munich Oktoberfest will recognize the format; newcomers will get a taste of it here.
The Musical Program
Three acts will perform throughout the evening:
- Die Jungen Zillertaler — A Tyrolean folk and party music institution; known for hits like “Bonzo Bombo” and live energy with authentic Tyrolean acoustics
- KaserMandl Duo — A folk music duo with a traditional Alpine repertoire
- DJ Benny Brüggen — bridging the gap from folk music to party music and ensuring the after-show atmosphere
Tickets and Reservations
Advance sales started on November 14, 2025, at 4 PM — standard ticket €34.90 plus a €2.50 booking fee. Group bookings are available for 8 people or more; tickets are sold through the partner ticket.io. Due to the premiere's buzz, tickets are expected to sell out quickly.
Jülich — Research and History
Jülich is a medium-sized town in the Düren district, characterized by the Forschungszentrum Jülich (one of Europe's largest interdisciplinary research institutions) and the historic Renaissance citadel. The Kulturmuschel and Brückenkopf-Park are among the most important open-air venues in the region's event calendar.
Who is RurWiesn For?
Anyone who loves Oktoberfest atmosphere but doesn't want to travel to Munich will find a compact alternative here — with fitting musical acts, authentic Bavarian food, and a charming Rhenish touch. Traditional attire is welcome, but not mandatory.
