Indoor rock festival in a holiday park on the Baltic Sea — curated by Rolling Stone Magazine
Since 2009, the Rolling Stone Beach Festival has been held every November at the Weissenhäuser Strand holiday park on the Baltic Sea coast — an unusual location for one of Germany's most ambitious indie rock festivals. The municipality of Schashagen in the Ostholstein district (state of Schleswig-Holstein) is part of the Lübeck Bay and hosts the Weissenhäuser Strand, a large holiday park that transforms into a festival backdrop for two days.
Unlike most rock festivals, the Rolling Stone Beach takes place indoors: Concerts run parallel or staggered in several halls and venues of the resort, allowing fans to experience around 25 artists over the weekend. The setting — Baltic Sea beach, dunes, nearby beech forest — complements the festival atmosphere with a short break between sets. Guests can book a hotel package and stay at the holiday park, or arrive with a festival-only pass.
The name says it all: The renowned music magazine Rolling Stone has been selecting the lineup together with promoter FKP Scorpio for years. The programming emphasizes indie, alternative, singer-songwriter, classic rock, and newcomers — no pop acts, no headliner logic like at major summer festivals. Bands like Bob Mould, Mogwai, The Notwist, Element of Crime, or The Walkabouts have been part of the festival's DNA in recent years.
The 17th edition on November 13 and 14, 2026, confirms this direction. The main stages will feature Mogwai, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Jon Spencer & Band, Bob Mould Band, Die Sterne, and We Are Scientists, among others. They will be joined by singer-songwriters, newcomers, and international acts from Great Britain, the USA, and Scandinavia.
With its 17th edition, the Rolling Stone Beach Festival 2026 confirms its position as one of Germany's most curated boutique festivals. From Friday, November 13, to Saturday, November 14, 2026, the Weissenhäuser Strand holiday park will open its halls for around 25 concerts spanning indie, alternative, rock, and singer-songwriter genres.
For 2026, the headliners announced include Scottish post-rockers Mogwai, Californian garage rockers Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, New York live-wire Jon Spencer, Hüsker Dü legend Bob Mould, and the Hamburger Schule representatives Die Sterne. They will be joined by acts such as We Are Scientists, Joan as Police Woman, Billy Nomates, Friska Viljor, Jade Bird, MRCY, Roo Panes, and many newcomers from German-speaking countries.
The concerts will be spread across several halls of the resort (including Kaiserstrand-Saal, Kursaal, Wave). Exact stage times and stage assignments will be published shortly before the festival on rollingstone-beach.de.
