The Swabian Summer Festival in Meyer's Garden
For years, the Gartenfest Gundremmingen has been one of the social highlights of the Swabian community in the Günzburg district. The venue is Meyer's Garten – an idyllic private garden in the village, which is transformed into an open-air festival ground for two days each year. Linden, chestnut, and fruit trees provide shade, long beer table sets form the centerpiece, and the stage for live music is set up between the hedges. It's a format that cherishes closeness to nature as much as the conviviality of a club festival.
The organizer is the Förderverein Gundremmingen Aktiv e.V., an association of committed citizens that financially supports projects in the village – from club activities and social initiatives to events for the general public. The garden festival is the most important source of income for the year and, at the same time, a showcase of the club's work. The festival would not be possible without the numerous volunteers from the village – the setup team, kitchen, service, and bar staff.
Gundremmingen is located in the Donauried region between Günzburg and Dillingen, a Swabian community that has been associated with the nuclear power plant of the same name for decades and is now energetically focusing on the post-nuclear era. The garden festival is an expression of this village community: families from the village, visitors from Offingen, Burgau, Lauingen, and Günzburg meet here for a beer, a coffee, or a piece of homemade cake. Music clubs from the neighborhood, such as the Blaskapelle Gundremmingen and the Musikverein Haunsheim, regularly perform.
The program combines live music with family activities: a children's area, bouncy castles, or game stations in the afternoon, followed by a cozy get-together in the evening, sometimes with a DJ or a party band. The kitchen serves homemade dishes – from coffee and cake on Saturday afternoon to hearty snack platters and Sunday roast on the second day of the festival. The Gartenfest Gundremmingen is one of those authentic Swabian village events where you experience community life firsthand.
The 2026 edition runs over two days: Saturday afternoon kicks off with coffee and cake, and in the evening, a party band ensures a lively atmosphere in the garden. On Sunday, the festival opens with a morning pint and lunch; in the afternoon, local music groups like the Blaskapelle Gundremmingen or the Musikverein Haunsheim will perform. Families will find a children's area, older guests a sheltered seating area, and all proceeds go entirely to the association's community projects.
Exact times and band lineups will be announced shortly before the festival date on the community website and Facebook.
