About Rodinger Volksfest

The Rodinger Volksfest is one of the largest Bavarian Volksfeste in the Cham district. For nine days, the festival grounds on the Regen river transform into a mix of a festival tent, amusement park, and tradition mile. It kicks off with a traditional festival parade featuring over 2,000 participants and concludes with a fireworks display over the Regen. The festival is jointly organized by the City of Roding and the local Burschenverein (youth club), who are co-organizers and custodians of Roding's festival culture.

A Volksfest with a Long Tradition

The Rodinger Volksfest is one of the traditional Bavarian Volksfeste in Eastern Bavaria. It spans nine festival days on the Volksfestplatz am Regen (festival grounds on the Regen river), in close proximity to Roding's historic old town. The organizers are the City of Roding and the Burschenverein Roding, which, with its numerous volunteer members, designs the festival parade and program points.

Program and Highlights

The fixed components of the festival include:

  • The traditional Volksfestumzug (festival parade) with over 2,000 participants – clubs, traditional costume groups, music bands, and floats parade through the town to the festival grounds.
  • Festival tent with daily music program, from traditional brass music to party bands.
  • Amusement park with rides, shooting galleries, and stalls.
  • Fireworks on the Regen – the pyrotechnics over the river are among the most photographed moments in the region.
  • Family and children's days with reduced prices and special programs.

Beer Price and Reservation

The Mass (liter) of beer remains stable at €9.80 in 2026. Table reservations are possible from May 18, 2026 – the day before, the program presentation will be held in the City of Roding with a press conference and program booklet.

Roding in the Cham District

Roding is a district town in the Cham district in the state of Bavaria, located on the river Regen between the Bavarian Forest and the Upper Palatinate Forest. The Volksfest underscores the town's function as a regional center and is an important date in Eastern Bavaria's summer calendar beyond the town limits.

Who is the visit worthwhile for?

The Rodinger Volksfest is a classic for lovers of Bavarian Volksfest culture. Families will find programs from morning to evening, tradition enthusiasts can experience the parade and traditional costumes, and fans of electrifying festival tent evenings can enjoy program nights with regional bands. The location on the Regen river makes the festival grounds a atmospheric place, especially in the evenings.
