34 Years of Fun Run Tradition

In 2026, the Emlichheimer Pfingstlauf will be held for the 34th time, making it an established date in the running calendar of the Grafschaft Bentheim and the adjacent Netherlands. The organizer is the Pfingstlauf Initiative, supported by local sports clubs.

Friday Before Pentecost as a Fixed Date

The run traditionally takes place on the Friday before Pentecost. In 2026, this will be May 22nd. This evening slot makes the run an opening celebration for the Pentecost weekend and attracts many families.

Children's Races and Bambini

Starting at 5:30 PM, the children's races for the youngest participants begin. Bambini run 300m, followed by age groups up to 15 years over corresponding distances. These children's races are an important part of the family program.

4x1km Relay

A 4x1km relay with categories for men, women, mixed, youth, school, and family is a special feature of the Pfingstlauf. Companies, school classes, family teams, and club teams compete against each other in this discipline.

5km and 10km Main Races

The main races are the 5km race starting at 7:30 PM and the 10km race starting at 8:30 PM. The routes lead through Emlichheim and the surrounding area, are largely flat, and therefore also suitable for fun runners. The evening timing gives the run a special flair.

Award Ceremony and Evening Party

Around 10 PM, the award ceremony takes place, followed by an evening party to kick off the Pentecost weekend in a sporty and social atmosphere. Thus, the Pfingstlauf is more than just a competition – it is a social event for the Niedergrafschaft.
