rockXplosion — 40th Warmbronner Open Air

Four decades loud, lively, and firmly rooted in the region: When the rockXplosion – Warmbronner Open Air Festival celebrates its 40th anniversary, a festival becomes a piece of living music history. From July 31 to August 2, 2026, Leonberg-Warmbronn will once again transform into a meeting point for all who not only want to hear live music but experience it.

What began in 1985 as Warmbronner Open Air has evolved over the years into a fixed highlight for rock, metal, punk, and ska fans. Forty years full of summer nights, dusty paths, sweaty club shirts, and honest guitar riffs – driven by voluntary commitment and the clear conviction that good music needs a stage.

For the anniversary, the line-up shows its full strength: AVRALIZE, HALF ME, and BLUTHUND headline a program featuring a total of 27 bands that will shape the festival over three days. Also featured are ACCVSED, STESY, CONSVMER, FRIENDS DON'T LIE, MAVIS, ERECTION, FATEFUL FINALITY, YEAST MACHINE, GOLDMANN, ALLURE, SOKAE, DIE KRAKEELEN, AT THE SHORE, PRISON OF HOPE, GAFFA, IRRSINN, DUST & BONES, NACHBARDACH, WIRED BEANS, BROAD ISSUE, LONG SHIRT DUDES, FLOHZIRKUS ORQUESTRA, GROOVING GUITAR and CAMPFIRE. Three days, two stages, and a sound that knows no bounds: The musical spectrum ranges from powerful rock to metal and punk, all the way to ska. Familiar names meet new impulses, old companions meet fresh energy – and together, exactly what has defined this festival for decades is created.

It also remains exciting around the stages. For the anniversary year, special program points and activities are planned to make the 40th birthday tangible. In addition, there are the established components that have long been part of the experience: legendary aftershow parties with metal karaoke and pub atmosphere, the relaxed, family-like atmosphere on the grounds, and the unmistakable flair in the Warmbronner forest.

rockXplosion 2026 stands for live music, community, and forty years of passion that can be heard, seen, and felt. Admission and camping are completely free, as they have been since 1985.

Getting There

Leonberg-Warmbronn is located on the western outskirts of Stuttgart. By car via the A8 (Stuttgart–Karlsruhe), exit Leonberg-West. By public transport: S-Bahn S6 from Stuttgart Hbf to Leonberg, then bus to Warmbronn.
