Goldbergfest — the neighbourhood festival in Sindelfingen's Goldberg quarter

The Goldbergfest is the annual neighbourhood festival of the Sindelfingen Goldberg quarter — a multicultural residential district with a school centre right on the outskirts of Sindelfingen (Böblingen district, Baden-Württemberg). The organiser is the Bürgerverein Goldberg Sindelfingen, supported by the voluntary commitment of the residents, schools, church communities, and clubs of the quarter. The venue is Berliner Platz, the central market square with a fountain between the school centre and residential areas.

Opening with the School Bands

The Goldbergfest starts on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 5 PM with the school bands from the Goldberg quarter. Four schools regularly participate: the Gemeinschaftsschule, the Realschule, the Gottlieb-Daimler-Schule (vocational and technical school centre), and the Goldberggymnasium. School and teacher bands alternate on stage — pop, rock, big band, and jazz, newly formed each year. A rare opportunity to experience the musical life of the school centre up close.

Saturday — the Clubs Present Themselves

Saturday, June 27, from 1 PM onwards, is dedicated to the clubs and institutions of the Goldberg quarter: the sports club, music association, fire department, church communities, migrant associations, kindergartens, and the residents' association itself present themselves at stands and engage in conversations with the residents of Goldberg. On stage, dance groups, sports acrobatics, and folklore performances alternate — a colourful mix that reflects the multicultural profile of the quarter. For children, there are numerous play and craft activities, and parents' associations provide coffee and cake.

Sunday — Ecumenism and Weißwurst Breakfast

Sunday, June 28, begins at 10 AM with an ecumenical open-air service on Berliner Platz — supported by the Catholic parish of St. Maria Goldberg and the Protestant church community. Afterwards, the residents' association invites you to the traditional Weißwurst breakfast with pretzels, Weißwurst (traditional Bavarian white sausage), and Weißbier (wheat beer). Sunday morning is the quiet, communal highlight of the festival — the Goldberg family among themselves.

Sindelfingen and Goldberg

Sindelfingen, with around 65,000 inhabitants, is an important industrial city and home of Mercedes-Benz in the district of Böblingen, southwest of Stuttgart. The Goldberg district was developed in the 1960s as a residential area for Mercedes employees and their families — today it is a dense, multicultural neighbourhood with a school centre, a shopping centre, and an active civil society. The Goldbergfest is part of the Goldberg Biennale, a series of neighbourhood events, and is considered the most important summer festival in the quarter.
