About Soul & Jazz at Fort
The Mittelrhein Musik Festival was founded in 2001 and has since grown into one of the most important concert series on the Middle Rhine. The festival uses the historic sites of the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley as extraordinary venues, combining classical concerts with jazz and soul.
Soul & Jazz at Fort Konstantin
The open-air concert “Soul & Jazz at Fort Konstantin” is one of the highlights of the festival season. Fort Konstantin is part of the fortress complex above Koblenz city center and offers a spectacular open-air backdrop with views of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. While Ehrenbreitstein Fortress is more often used for large concerts and mass events, Fort Konstantin has a more intimate, almost mysterious charm.

The 2026 festival season opens on May 29th with the Andrea Motis Trio in the Rhein-Mosel-Halle. Andrea Motis is one of the most important young jazz voices in Europe and comes from Catalonia. On August 23rd, another highlight follows: the SWR Big Band will perform at Ehrenbreitstein Fortress.
