About KLANGGRENZEN
KLANGGRENZEN — edition 2026
For its tenth anniversary, KLANGGRENZEN 2026 offers a diverse program of thematic concerts. The opening on February 27, 2026, features a concert centered around folk music. This is followed by a Beethoven program on February 28 and March 1, combining chamber music and symphonic music. In the concert »Achtung, Zerbrechlich!« (Attention, Fragile!) at the European Museum of Modern Glass in Rödental, masterpieces by Mozart, Ravel, and Debussy will be performed – featuring the rare glass harmonica and the Verrophon in dialogue with classical instruments, creating a sonic bridge between music and glass art. The benefit concert »Aqua Vitae!« is dedicated to a theme that has fascinated people for centuries. The concerts take place in unusual locations – from wine cellars and discotheques to the Veste Coburg fortress.

A Festival That Breaks Boundaries
Since 2017, the interdisciplinary chamber music festival KLANGGRENZEN has been connecting cultural creators of all disciplines. The concept is unique: in every concert, classical chamber music meets another art form – painting, glass art, instrument making, gastronomy, dance, or literature. This creates sound performances that expand the classical concert format and create new listening experiences.
Unusual Venues
KLANGGRENZEN deliberately uses venues beyond classical concert halls: a wine cellar, a discotheque, the European Museum of Modern Glass in Rödental, or the historic Veste Coburg fortress high above the city. This diversity of locations makes every concert a special experience and firmly anchors the festival in the urban space of Coburg.
Music Education and Outreach
Music education is an important component: with the school project »VERNETZT!« (Connected!), the association KLANGGRENZEN e.V. introduces classical music to children and young people. Thousands of children have been reached in ten years – a sustainable contribution to cultural education in the region.
Coburg in Upper Franconia
Coburg is located in northern Upper Franconia in the Free State of Bavaria, on the border with Thuringia. The former ducal residence city with its rich cultural history provides the ideal setting for KLANGGRENZEN. The festival has become a firm cultural flagship for the city and the Coburg region.
