Fischerfest Leimersheim

The Fischerfest Leimersheim is one of the most important village Whitsun festivals in the Rülzheim municipality and is part of a long tradition of Rhineland fishing culture. Leimersheim is located directly on the Rhine opposite Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen and has had a vibrant club life centred around fishing and water sports for centuries.

Organiser and Concept

The organiser is the Angelsportverein Leimersheim (Leimersheim Angling Club), which organises the festival as its most important annual revenue event, thereby financing club activities, youth development, and the maintenance of its fishing waters. The festival is explicitly open to everyone, with a village-family character that is also regionally renowned.

Venue on the Rhine

The festival grounds are located directly on the Rhine bank, offering a particularly beautiful setting: long wooden beer benches under the trees, a central marquee, food stalls, and small amusement rides for children are spread along the promenade. The view of the river gives the festival its unique character.

Culinary Concept

The focus is on fresh fish: fried carp, herring, trout, eel, and occasionally fish on a stick are prepared by the Angling Club itself, usually with classic Palatinate side dishes. In addition, there are bratwurst, steak, fries, Palatinate snacks, draft Kerwebier (fair beer), and Palatinate Schorle (mixed wine and sparkling water).

Team Fishing

The sporting highlight is the team fishing on Saturday afternoon from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM. Teams from Leimersheim and friendly angling clubs compete against each other on the club's own waters; the award ceremony takes place in the evening in the marquee.
