National beach volleyball series with a festival atmosphere on Germany's widest sandy beach
The tour series ROCK the BEACH is one of Germany's most important national beach volleyball formats. It is held in cooperation with the German Volleyball Association (DVV) and awards ranking points for the national tour. The weekend in St. Peter-Ording is the only stop on the North Sea — and since its revival in 2025, it is again a firm part of the season.
Several sand courts will be set up on the two-kilometer-wide Ording beach: a Center Court for the top matches plus additional courts for the group stage. Main draws of 16 women's and 16 men's teams will compete, along with recreational and amateur tournament courts on the sidelines. The prize money amounts to €10,000, distributed across the classes — supplemented by DVV ranking points for the national beach tour.
Sport is only one part of the weekend: A Beach Village with a stage, live entertainment, food trucks, beach bars, and workshop offerings will be set up around the Center Court. On Friday and Saturday evenings, the Beach Parties will take place — with sunset over the mudflats, DJ sets, and drinks on the sand.
St. Peter-Ording is one of Germany's best-known North Sea resorts, located on the Eiderstedt peninsula in the North Friesland district of Schleswig-Holstein. The beach is over twelve kilometers long and up to two kilometers wide in some places — ideal for major events such as beach volleyball tournaments, kite festivals, and beach sailing. The Ording district, where the tournament takes place, has established itself as the resort's sporting flagship in recent years.
The weekend attracts a broad audience: beach volleyball players from all over Germany, summer vacationers on the North Sea, day-trippers from Hamburg, Bremen, and Kiel, plus locals from St. Peter-Ording and the surrounding Eiderstedt communities. Free admission, family-friendly, sporty, and festive at the same time.
The tournament follows the now-established three-day format of the ROCK the BEACH tour: group stage on Friday and Saturday mornings, knockout rounds on Saturday, semifinals and finals on Sunday. Simultaneously, recreational and amateur tournaments, workshops, and the supporting program in the Beach Village will take place.
Registration for the amateur courts opens on January 19, 2026, via the Beach Volleyball Association, according to the organizers.
