Three Days of Rock Between Clouds and Charity – Motorjesus, The New Roses, and Black Remains Above Gustorf Gliding Field
Rock Sommer Nacht began in 2016 as a small benefit concert at the gliding field in Gustorf and has since grown into a staple of the Lower Rhine hard rock scene. The organizer is the non-profit association 'Rock Sommer Nacht hilft e.V.', whose net proceeds regularly benefit social causes and local projects in the Grevenbroich region. 'What rocks stays – and in 2026, we're turning up the volume even more!' is the confident motto of the organizers.
The event's growth is also evident organizationally: in 2026, the festival will be extended to three days (June 11 to 14, with setup and program days over the extended weekend). Also new is the Camper Area with water hookups, sanitary facilities, and improved signage for access – an important step to retain fans from further afield for multiple days.
At the heart of the festival are three names that resonate in the German rock scene: Motorjesus, the hard rockers from Mönchengladbach, The New Roses from Wiesbaden – blues rock headliners with international touring experience – and Black Remains as another headliner act. A total of 11 bands are confirmed, including Father & Son, La Ultima, SeniorScum, and a Hungarian Iron Maiden tribute band. The line-up caters to a loyal clientele: rock fans aged 30+ to 50+ who prefer classic hard rock, blues rock, and heavy rock over the mainstream mix of larger open-air festivals.
The venue is unusual: the Gustorfer Höhe Gliding Field in Elfgen-Gustorf, a district of the town of Grevenbroich in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss. On the open meadow with a view far into the Rhenish mining region, an open-air area for around 1,500 visitors will be set up – compact enough to maintain the festival's intimate feel, yet spacious enough for the stage, food trucks, and camping. The location – near the B477 and A540 motorways – makes travel uncomplicated.
Grevenbroich is located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, in the heart of the Rhenish lignite mining region between Düsseldorf, Mönchengladbach, and Cologne. The region is undergoing structural change – the nearby open-cast mines are closing, and new identities are being sought. Festivals like Rock Sommer Nacht demonstrate how local initiatives can grow into event formats that foster regional cohesion and simultaneously become interesting for a supra-regional audience.
In 2026, the festival is extended to three program days, responding to sustained audience interest. Capacity remains around 1,500 spots – keeping the event intimate enough to preserve the personal character of a benefit event. Advance sales began in October 2025 via Eventim and directly on the organizer's website.
Detailed day splits and stage times will be communicated in advance on rocksommernachthilft.de.
