City festival and old town run in historic Beeskow
Beeskow is the district town of the Oder-Spree district, located at the eastern gate of the Schwielochsee lake and on the Spree river, about 70 kilometers southeast of Berlin. The town has around 7,700 inhabitants and an exceptionally well-preserved medieval town structure — city walls, St. Mary's Church in brick Gothic style, the market square with historic bourgeois houses, and Beeskow Castle as the cultural center. The Altstadtfest on the first weekend in June is one of the social highlights of the year.
The Altstadtfest takes place in the historic center of Beeskow — market square, Berliner Straße, and adjacent alleys. A colorful musical program, catering by local restaurateurs and clubs, market stalls with regional products and crafts, and a family offering make the festival a typical Brandenburg city festival with a dense atmosphere. The town of Beeskow is the organizer.
The sporting highlight is the Old Town Run on Sunday. The 13th edition will take place in 2026. The run offers routes for all age groups — from the Bambini run to the main race distances. The start and finish are in the middle of the old town, and the route leads through historic Beeskow. Online registration is possible until June 1, 2026 (beeskower-altstadtlauf.de). Those who want to combine a city festival and a fun run on one weekend will find the Beeskow Altstadtfest to be the perfect choice.
First-time visitors to Beeskow should take time for Beeskow Castle (Castle Museum, Gallery, Castle Restaurant) and a walk along the city walls. The region is ideal for day trips: Schwielochsee for swimming, Spreewald, Storkower See — all reachable within 30 minutes. The Altstadtfest is the perfect occasion to discover Beeskow and eastern Brandenburg off the beaten path.
On Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, 2026, the town of Beeskow invites you to the traditional Altstadtfest in the historic city center. The market square, Berliner Straße, and adjacent alleys form the festival mile.
A musical stage program, market stalls with regional products and crafts, catering by local restaurateurs and clubs, and a family program characterize the two days. On Sunday, the 13th Beeskow Old Town Run starts with routes for all age groups — start and finish in the old town. Online registration until June 1, 2026.
