Medieval market with knights, jesters, and fire artists
Beeskow Castle is one of Brandenburg's best-preserved medieval castle complexes. Originally built in the 13th century as a sovereign's castle, it was rebuilt several times over the centuries and today serves as a venue for culture, a museum, and major cultural events. The castle courtyard — a good 30 meters long and surrounded by brick walls — offers an extraordinary backdrop for medieval festivals.
The Medieval Spectacle is organized by Coex Veranstaltungs GmbH & Co KG and has been one of Eastern Brandenburg's most popular medieval festivals for years. Unlike some modern medieval market productions, the spectacle strives to create an authentic atmosphere — costumes, catering, crafts, language, and music are implemented as historically accurately as possible.
Over two days in early July, various program points characterize the castle grounds: Knight games and sword fights as the central spectacle, jester performances with juggling and acrobatics, fire art after dark. Historical music accompanies the day. At the craftsmen's stalls, you'll see bead embroidery, blacksmithing, leatherwork, porcelain painting, and more — many craftsmen work live in front of the audience.
The spectacle is explicitly designed to be family-friendly — children can participate in skill games, try archery, or interact with animals in the medieval stables. Medieval catering in the castle tavern — mead, dark bread, stew. Tickets via burg-beeskow.de. Beeskow is accessible by car via the A12 or by regional train connections from Berlin. Beeskow Castle also offers a year-round museum, temporary exhibitions of contemporary art, and a castle restaurant — making a visit to the Medieval Spectacle an ideal combination with a cultural-historical tour through medieval Beeskow.
On Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5, 2026, the courtyard of Beeskow Castle will transform into a medieval festival landscape. For two days, knight games, jesters, fire artists, acrobats, and musicians will shape the events in the historic castle complex.
