An Encounter of Extremes
On one side, Tholey Abbey – with its founding date of 634, the oldest documented monastery in Germany. On the other, Rolls-Royce and Bentley – the epitome of automotive luxury from Crewe and Goodwood. When these two meet, a picture emerges that is rarely seen today: centuries-old sandstone masonry as a backdrop for gleaming spoke wheels.
When is the Meeting?
The summer weekend of the Bentley & Rolls-Royce Touring Club (THE OTHER CLUB) takes place from Friday, June 12th to Sunday, June 14th, 2026. The main event day with the vehicle exhibition on the abbey grounds is Saturday, June 13th. On Sunday, June 14th, the vehicles can be seen on a tour around the Schaumberg.
What to Experience
The Vehicle Exhibition
International collectors travel with their treasures. From pre-war Rolls-Royce Phantoms to the iconic Silver Shadow and the current Bentley Continental GT – the full spectrum of British luxury automobiles. Many vehicles are not in their original condition but have been lovingly restored; their owners are happy to provide information.
The Venue – Tholey Abbey
Tholey Abbey sits enthroned on the Schaumberg, the highest mountain in Saarland at 568 meters. The monastery, re-inhabited in 1949 after a long pause, has been extensively restored in recent years – a highlight is the three stained-glass windows by Gerhard Richter, which have adorned the abbey church since 2020. This makes the location an international pilgrimage site for contemporary art.
Tour and Convoy
On Sunday, the tour starts through the Sankt Wendel region and the nearby Nordpfalz. Approximately 50 to 80 vehicles in convoy – a spectacle on the country roads around the Schaumberg.
Who is THE OTHER CLUB?
The Bentley & Rolls-Royce Touring Club Germany (TOC) is an association of German-speaking owners of these brands, founded in 1960. With the name 'THE OTHER CLUB', the association deliberately distinguishes itself from competitor clubs. The meetings are traditionally accessible to members, but the vehicle exhibition on Saturday is open to the public.
Tholey – More Than Just the Abbey
The municipality of Tholey in the district of Sankt Wendel has just under 12,000 inhabitants. Its location on the Schaumberg makes it a tourist anchor point in northern Saarland. Those who spend the weekend locally can combine the car meeting with hiking on the Schaumberg, visiting the abbey with the Richter windows, and perhaps a trip to Bostalsee or Sankt Wendel.
Saarland Pride
The fact that an international meeting of this calibre is taking place in Saarland says something about the region's renaissance. Saarland combines a favourable location (France, Belgium, Luxembourg are within car reach), exclusive venues (Saareck Castle, Saarschleife, Tholey Abbey), and relaxed logistics – ideal for a weekend among enthusiasts.
