Christmas Magic Old Town Brandenburg an der Havel

The organizers emphasize the added value compared to classic Christmas markets: no mass crowds in one square, but a city walk between four worlds — mulled wine bustle at Altstädtischer Markt, quiet and classical music at Gotthardt, medieval atmosphere at Slawendorf, jazz and readings at Johanniskirche. An Advent city tour explains the history of the old town between the stops.

The open courtyards — private inner courtyards and workshops that open their doors for the weekend — are the emotional heart of the festival. Here, the Brandenburg pioneering spirit of "Altstadtleben Brandenburg Havel 2028" is evident.

Christmas Magic 2026 — Program Structure

Location 1: Altstädtischer Markt

• Classic Christmas market with stalls for arts and crafts, mulled wine, and regional specialties
• Stage with live music in the catering area

Location 2: Gotthardtkirchplatz

• Christmas concerts with classical music and Advent songs
• Readings and literary Advent evenings

Location 3: Slawendorf

• Medieval-Slavic Advent market with bonfires, wood crafts, and mead
• Outdoor art activities

Location 4: Johanniskirche

• Jazz sessions and intimate Advent concerts
• Candlelight atmosphere

Citywide

• Velotaxi and horse-drawn carriage shuttle between the four locations
• Advent city tour with all four stops
• Model railway exhibition (multiple locations)

Getting There

Brandenburg an der Havel main station — from there, a 10-minute walk or take tram 1, 2, 6 to the old town. By car: A10 to Wollin, then B102. Parking near the old town.
