Treffurt — Small Town on the Werra River, by the Heldrastein

Treffurt is a small town with around 4,500 inhabitants in the Wartburgkreis district, on the banks of the Werra river, in western Thuringia. Its landmarks are the Burg Normannstein (12th century) and the nearby Heldrastein with its observation tower — sights within the Eichsfeld-Hainich-Werratal Nature Park. The historic town center with its Renaissance town hall and half-timbered houses is well-preserved. Its location on the border with Hesse makes Treffurt a bridge town between Central Germany and the Hessian Werra Valley.

Local musicians from Treffurt, Eisenach, Bad Salzungen, Mihla, and the surrounding communities form the core.
