Pop, Indie, and Club Culture on the Offenbach Riviera

The Riviera Festival has been Offenbach's young pop and club culture festival since 2018. "Riviera" – a self-ironic nickname for the city's Main riverbank – describes the concept: a festival spread across several locations on and around the water, bringing together established and temporary cultural venues. The spectrum ranges from Indie through Rap, Electro, Post-Punk to Pop – with a clear focus on newcomers and the underground alongside a handful of headliners.

More Than Just Concerts

Riviera is not just a festival, but a cluster of three formats: the actual festival (concert evenings), the Riviera Commons (regular meetings for musicians from Offenbach and Rhein-Main as an all-year network), and the Riviera Conference – an industry event with workshops, panels, and lectures for professionals from the music and event business. This combination distinguishes Riviera from classic city festivals.

Program and 2026 Edition

The edition from September 4th to 6th, 2026, is part of the program for World Design Capital 2026 (WDC 2026) – Offenbach and Frankfurt share this title in 2026 and use it to link design culture, music, and urban space. Several thematically fitting acts will perform at the Riviera Festival 2026; the complete lineup will be announced in the summer of 2026.

Offenbach as a Pop City

Offenbach – once home to bands like Tocotronic's predecessors and today equipped with the Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG) and a vibrant subculture – has established itself in the last decade as an alternative pop city in Frankfurt's shadow. The Riviera Festival is the stage for this scene and, at the same time, an attempt to culturally reoccupy the Main riverbank.
