Over 40 Years of Tradition
The Pfingstflohmarkt (Pentecost Flea Market) on the Holstenhallen outdoor grounds in Neumünster has been a crowd-puller for over four decades. What began as a regional sales day has developed into Schleswig-Holstein's largest flea market — and one of the largest in Northern Germany. At Pentecost, vendors from across the state, from Hamburg, and even from Lower Saxony and Denmark come to Neumünster to spread their wares across the vast outdoor area.
Holstenhallen — The Ideal Venue
The Holstenhallen Neumünster is an exhibition and event center located at Justus-von-Liebig-Straße in the western city center. The outdoor grounds offer space for hundreds of stalls across several hectares of asphalt and grass — from trailer stands to classic market umbrellas. On normal days, the major North German Riding and Show Jumping Tournament also takes place here, and trade fairs are held several times a year.
Pentecost Double Header
The Pentecost date is not chosen by chance:
- Pentecost Sunday, May 24, 2026 — 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Pentecost Monday, May 25, 2026 — 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Two consecutive days, with the public holiday on Monday offering a relaxed atmosphere for family outings. Stall setup begins early in the morning from 4:00 AM — vendors arrive with trailers and buses.
What's on Offer?
The assortment is typical for a large flea market — diverse, broad, and unpredictable:
- Used goods — furniture, books, dishes, jewelry, toys, antiques
- Collectibles — coins, stamps, records, postcards, comics
- Textiles — used and new clothing, leather goods
- Household items — small electrical appliances, tools, decorations
- Also commercial vendors with new goods: textiles, leather goods, brushes, tools
Vendor Rates
Stand fees are clearly regulated (all prices per linear meter):
- Used goods — €11.00 per meter
- New goods/returned goods — €4.00 surcharge per meter
- New textiles/leather goods (commercial) — €20.00 per meter
- Minimum space without vehicle: 3 meters length, 2 meters depth
- Minimum space with vehicle: 5 meters (or actual vehicle length rounded up), 4 meters depth including vehicle
- Children's blankets (max. 1.5×1.5 m, only children's items) for a fee
Family Tradition
For many families in Schleswig-Holstein, the Pfingstflohmarkt is an integral part of the Pentecost weekend — a day for browsing together, enjoying a bratwurst snack, and the chance to find something you were looking for (or didn't know you needed). Vendors and buyers maintain a well-established tradition, and the weather usually cooperates — May is statistically the driest month in Northern Germany.
