Carnival parade in the Neuwied district of Irlich with start at 2:11 PM and After-Zoch-Party in the multi-purpose hall of the St. Georg elementary school
The district of Irlich is located on the southwestern edge of Neuwied, directly on the Rhine. Until 1970, Irlich was an independent municipality; its village structure and strong club networks have remained vibrant to this day. Carnival in Irlich is a club-based celebration, primarily supported by the local carnival society, schools, and sports clubs.
The Rosenmontagszug (Rose Monday Parade) winds through the central streets of Irlich. The route is shorter than in larger districts, enhancing the family-friendly nature of the parade. Dance groups, music bands, walking groups, and small floats characterize the procession; residents, families, and guests from neighboring districts line the streets.
A special feature is the location of the After-Zoch-Party: the multi-purpose hall of the St. Georg elementary school in Irlich. Starting at 3 PM — thus in the late afternoon and particularly family-friendly — the social program begins with music, dancing, refreshments, and an opportunity for the youngest carnival-goers to celebrate without a late-night extension.
The St. Georg parish and the school are important anchors in Irlich's carnival life. This close connection between tradition, school, and parish community makes the Irlich carnival an example of well-functioning village and district culture.
Carnival in Irlich is organized on a club basis. The route and assembly points will be published by the organizer in February 2026.
