The central square becomes a fairground

Neumünster is one of Schleswig-Holstein's independent cities (along with Kiel, Lübeck, Flensburg) and the economic center of the Mittel-Holstein region. The Großflecken in the city center – historically the central market square – is repurposed several times a year for fairs and major events. The Summer Market at the end of July/beginning of August is one of the two highlights, alongside the Spring Market.

What awaits you

The Summer Market offers the classic fairground attractions, plus street food and a stage program:

• Rides for young and old – children's carousels, dodgems, modern family rides
• Market stalls and game stalls – shooting galleries, ring toss, claw machines
• Street food and snacks – bratwurst, fries, fish sandwiches, pizza, crêpes, ice cream
• Sweets – candied almonds, cotton candy, chocolate-covered fruit
• Stage for music and show program
• Evening atmosphere with lights and music

Tradition with show families

As with the other Neumünster markets, several show families have been an integral part of the Summer Market for years. They travel with their rides throughout Northern Germany and are regular guests in Neumünster – this gives the market its own identity beyond interchangeable fairs.

Timing and location

The weekend at the end of July / beginning of August falls right in the middle of the Schleswig-Holstein school holidays – the Summer Market is therefore a classic family holiday weekend. Neumünster is conveniently located on the A7 and A215 motorways and on the Hamburg–Westerland railway line – the city is a hub between Hamburg, Kiel, and the West Coast.
