Northern Europe's and the entire Baltic Sea region's most important compact construction trade fair
Neumünster, the fourth-largest city in the state of Schleswig-Holstein with around 80,000 inhabitants, has been the number one trade fair location between Hamburg and Scandinavia for decades. The Holstenhallen, a modern exhibition centre with large halls and an 89,000 m² outdoor area, has been the venue for NordBau since the 1950s — founded in 1956 as the first German construction trade fair after the war.
NordBau is more than a regional trade fair: it is Northern Europe's most important construction trade fair. With around 700 exhibitors from 15 countries (Germany, Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Poland, the Baltic states, and more) and 50,000 trade visitors, it is one of the major must-attend events for construction companies, architects, craftspeople, landscapers, and municipal building authorities from Northern Germany, Scandinavia, and the Baltics.
The 71st edition in 2026 will clearly focus on timber construction with a new Timber Construction Centre North — a response to the boom in sustainable building. In addition, Smart Construction, digitalization of the construction site, and the circular economy will be in the spotlight. Over 40 congresses, seminars, and training courses will accompany the trade fair; half of them are recognized as official further training by the Chamber of Architects and Engineers of Schleswig-Holstein.
The range of products showcased extends from construction machinery (cranes, excavators, rollers, compactors), equipment, and commercial vehicles for road construction, civil engineering, and municipal facilities, to construction chemicals, building components, roofs, windows, doors, interior finishing, to sustainable energy systems, heating technology, and smart home solutions. The outdoor area impresses with demonstrations of large machinery — excavators in action, rollers, cranes, and trucks.
