Neumünster: Transport Hub and Trade Fair City
Neumünster, with around 80,000 inhabitants, is the fourth-largest city in the state of Schleswig-Holstein and one of the major independent cities between Hamburg and Kiel. The Holstenhallen, a modern exhibition center with spacious halls, is the venue for numerous supra-regional events — from NordBau (Northern Europe's largest construction trade fair) and equestrian tournaments to HOLSTENART.
A Young but Established Art Fair
HOLSTENART started in 2022 and has established itself as Northern Germany's central art fair within a few years. The mix of galleries, individual artists, and art associations from all over Germany — and occasionally from Scandinavia — makes the fair diverse. With around 160 exhibitors and over 3,500 visitors per edition, HOLSTENART has become the hub for the North German art market.
The Range: From Watercolor to Installation
The exhibited works cover the entire spectrum of contemporary art: oil paintings, acrylics, watercolors, mixed media, photography, sculptures made of stone, bronze, wood, and metal, installations, and conceptual art. Both representational and abstract works are shown, from small pieces for the living room to large-format gallery works. Prices range from a few hundred to five-figure euro amounts.
Service and Comfort
The organizer places particular emphasis on visitor services: a packing station allows for the safe transport of purchased works home, free parking spaces surround the halls, and catering services are available for refreshments during your visit. The next edition is announced for March 20–21, 2027.
