Traditional summer festival of the "Bergmannskapelle" music association with radish spirals on the market square in the "Bergmannsstädtle"
The Neubulach Rettichfest is a classic Swabian summer festival, organized annually by the "Bergmannskapelle" Neubulach e.V. music association on the third Saturday in July. The venue is the historic market square of the "Bergmannsstädtle", in the heart of the old town, nestled among half-timbered and miners' houses. The festival regularly serves as a meeting point for the entire Neubulach community and guests from the Calw region.
The festival's emblem is the fresh radish, which the music association members cut into long, thin spirals using special devices and sell to guests. Sprinkled with salt and enjoyed with a cool beer, the radish spiral stand is the traditional first stop for every festival-goer. In addition, the music association offers classic summer festival fare: bratwurst, "Saitenwürstchen" (small sausages), steaks, fries, pretzels, cakes, ice cream, as well as beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages.
The "Bergmannskapelle" (Miners' Band) owes its name to Neubulach's mining tradition: silver and copper mining in the Middle Ages shaped the town — the music association adopted the name as a historical reminiscence. During the Rettichfest, the Bergmannskapelle performs the festival program; friendly music associations from the surrounding area often join as guest bands. A cozy club festival characterized by brass music with genuine regional roots.
Neubulach (Calw district, AGS 08235, approx. 5,700 inhabitants) is located in the Heckengäu region on the northern edge of the Northern Black Forest. For centuries, the small town was an important mining site (silver, copper) — the Hella-Glück-Stollen visitor mine documents this tradition. Today, Neubulach is a livable climatic health resort with an active club scene. The Rettichfest is one of the summer highlights in the town's event calendar.
On Saturday, July 18, 2026, the "Bergmannskapelle" Neubulach e.V. music association invites you to the traditional Rettichfest on the market square. The festival opens at 5 p.m. — and remains a meeting point for locals and guests from the region until late into the summer evening.
The festival's specialty is fresh radish, cut into thin spirals and sprinkled with salt. The Bergmannskapelle will play on the market square, and local caterers will serve bratwurst, pretzels, and Swabian classics. A classic club festival, run by volunteers, that celebrates Neubulach's regional identity.
