Town Festival on the Neckar
Remseck am Neckar is a comparatively young town: in 1975, it was formed by the merger of the former municipalities of Aldingen, Hochberg, Hochdorf, Neckargröningen, and Neckarrems. With around 27,000 inhabitants, it lies northeast of Stuttgart in the Ludwigsburg district, at the confluence of the Neckar and Rems rivers. The Marktplatzfest is one of the identity-defining events for this young town — a two-day festival that unites all districts on the central market square.
Two-Day Program
The festival starts on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 5:00 PM. The “Tanzkids” will kick things off with a dance performance, followed by the Blasorchester Remseck (5:30 PM) and the official opening with a keg tapping ceremony by the mayor at 6:00 PM. From 8:30 PM, the cover band “Good News” will perform a rock concert on the main stage. On Saturday, June 13, 2026, the full program runs from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM — dance groups, music ensembles, hands-on activities, and from 8:15 PM, a DJ will take over the dance floor.
12 Catering Stands from Clubs
12 local clubs operate catering stands on the market square. The range includes Swabian cuisine (Maultaschen, Schupfnudeln, Käsknöpfle), international specialties (crêpes, pizza, Lángos), and classic festival tent fare (bratwurst, fries). Draft beer, wines from the surrounding Württemberg vineyards, cocktails, and soft drinks are available at the club bars. The proceeds go directly to the club treasuries.
KUBUS — Media Library with Open Door
The KUBUS, Remseck's media library building, is located directly on the market square. During the Marktplatzfest, it opens on Saturday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a special program: creative workshop for children from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, media library area open with special offers for families. This combines the festival's open-air town atmosphere with indoor cultural content — not a standard format, but a well-thought-out town festival concept.
Family Program and Free Admission
The festival is explicitly family-friendly. Tanzkids, children's activities in the KUBUS, children's stages with fairy tale readings, a bouncy castle, and a face-painting booth. Admission to the entire festival grounds is free; payment is only required at the catering stands and for individual activities (e.g., face painting €1 per motif).

The Remseck am Neckar town administration has published the detailed 2026 program. The festival starts punctually on Friday at 5:00 PM with a dance performance by the “Tanzkids”, followed by the Blasorchester Remseck at 5:30 PM. Getting There
Take the S-Bahn S2 from Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof for 25 minutes to Aldingen (Remseck), then take a bus or walk to Marktplatz Remseck (Neckarrems district). By car, take the B 14 (Stuttgart–Backnang) or the A 81 (Ludwigsburg-Nord exit, then B 27).
Admission
Admission to the festival grounds is free. Catering stands from clubs at usual town festival prices: Beer 0.5 l approx. €4, Bratwurst €4, Maultaschen €7, Crêpes €4.
