A New Concert Tradition for Kornwestheim

The Kornwestheimer Musiknacht Open is a free open-air concert series in Kornwestheim that has established itself as the successor to the well-known "Kornwestheim rockt" series. First held in 2025 after a public tender process by the city of Kornwestheim, the second edition will run in 2026 — a sign that the concert concept is taking hold and the series has found its place in the summer calendar of the Ludwigsburg district.

The History: From "Kornwestheim rockt" to "Musiknacht Open"

For many years, the city of Kornwestheim had organized the free summer concert series "Kornwestheim rockt" — a format that turned the market square into a live music stage every Tuesday during the summer holidays. The series was run by one organizer who had a de facto monopoly. In 2024/25, the format was re-tendered due to German competition law requirements — the city had to conduct a public procurement process to avoid suspicion of favoring a monopoly. No applications were received on the first attempt, so the city directly contacted five regional event companies and received two offers. In October 2025, Markus Wahsner & Marcel Demirok Events GbR was commissioned as the new organizer, and the series was renamed accordingly — "Kornwestheimer Musiknacht Open".

2026 Format

Every Tuesday during the Baden-Württemberg summer holidays, an open-air concert takes place on Kornwestheim market square from late afternoon/evening onwards. In 2026, these are the five Tuesdays between July 28 and August 25. The concerts are free, with a different cover or tribute band performing each week — from pop to rock to Schlager, in a mix curated by event professionals Markus Wahsner and Marcel Demirok. Catering is provided by local clubs and restaurants. Families, regulars, young adults — all generations are welcome.

Kornwestheim in the Ludwigsburg District

Kornwestheim is a city with just under 32,000 inhabitants in the southern Ludwigsburg district, directly north of Stuttgart. It is known for the Salamander shoe industry (headquarters located here) and its connection to Stuttgart via the S-Bahn line S 4. Kornwestheim market square is the social center — with the town hall, city church, and shops in close proximity. The Tuesday concerts mobilize the city and its surrounding communities.
