Wine hike and wine festival at Haus Sodekamp-Dohmen in Hilfarth (Hückelhoven) on August 1st and 2nd, 2026 — Wine enjoyment along the Rur without its own vineyard
Rebenbeben an der Rur is one of North Rhine-Westphalia's most unusual wine festivals. Hückelhoven in the Heinsberg district has no vineyards of its own — and yet the concept has been working excellently since its premiere in 2024. The next edition will take place from August 1st to 2nd, 2026, at Haus Sodekamp-Dohmen in the Hilfarth district of Hückelhoven. A wine festival with an attached wine hike along the banks of the Rur — the idea, which originated in Hückelhoven, has quickly developed into a regional insider tip.
Instead of a vineyard, the festival uses the Rur floodplain — the idyllic river landscape along the Rur — as a hiking backdrop. Various wine stations are set up along the hiking route, where regional vintners serve and offer their wines for tasting. You hike comfortably from station to station, hear the vintner's story about each wine, and enjoy the view of the Rur valley.
The central festival headquarters is the traditional Haus Sodekamp-Dohmen in Hilfarth — an agricultural farmstead with a spacious courtyard, which is ideal for a wine festival with seating, food, and wine stands.
Festival start on Saturday afternoon — opening of the wine stations along the Rur, wine tasting offers, live music at Haus Sodekamp-Dohmen, evening program with tasting highlights.
Family-friendly Sunday — wine hike in the morning, Frühschoppen (morning pint) at the house, live music in the afternoon, relaxed end in the evening.
Hilfarth is a rural district of Hückelhoven in the far west of North Rhine-Westphalia — right on the border with the Netherlands. Haus Sodekamp-Dohmen is an old agricultural farmstead that has been converted into an event location and hosts several regional festivals — weddings, Schützenfeste (marksmen's festivals), birthdays, and the Rebenbeben.
Hückelhoven is a medium-sized town in the Heinsberg district (NRW) with about 40,000 inhabitants. For a long time, Hückelhoven was known for coal mining (Sophia Jacoba mine); today, after structural change, it is a residential and middle-class town. The Heinsberg district is located at the westernmost edge of NRW and geographically belongs to the Selfkant — the only region in Germany that is completely detached from the federal territory and extends into the Netherlands. This border location is also reflected in the festival: Dutch visitors are frequent, and the festival is explicitly conceived as cross-border.
Two-day wine festival with a wine hike along the Rur. Concept: no own vineyard in Hückelhoven, but wine enjoyment in the idyllic Rur floodplain with regional vintners as guests.
Free admission. Wine tastings and food directly at the stands.

Bring sturdy shoes for the wine hike along the Rur — the paths are partly unpaved. Allow at least 3 hours for the complete tour so you can taste at each wine station in peace. It can get humid in August along the Rur — wear light clothing, don't forget sun protection.
