1/8-mile acceleration races for vintage and youngtimer vehicles up to model year 1976 at the Finowfurt Aviation Museum
The Finowfurt Aviation Museum in the Schorfheide, north of Berlin, is a former GDR-era military airfield. One of its runways is now used as an event venue — and once a year, it transforms into an open race track for classic vehicles.
The Race 61 Season Opening takes place on Saturday, May 9, 2026. It opens the season in Roadrunner's Paradise, the event universe centered around classic motorcycles and hot rods.
On a 1/8 mile (approx. 201 meters) acceleration strip, only vehicles up to model year 1976 compete against each other:

The Race 61 events are among the most important European meeting points for lovers of classic motorsport culture. Participants and visitors come from all over Europe — from Scandinavia and Great Britain to Southern Europe.
One-day old-school motorsport event as the season opener. Race track on a runway of the historic military airfield. Live program in parallel in the Party Hangar.
You can reach Finowfurt by taking the RB60 train from Eberswalde, arriving in about 15 minutes at Finowfurt station; the Aviation Museum is located about 2 km north. By car, take the A11 motorway.
