65 Years of Plauen Lace Festival — 30 Years of Vogtland District
Plauen is the lace city: Since the 19th century, Germany's most famous lace textile has been produced here — Plauen Lace. Highly developed machines, artistic embroidery craftsmanship, its own Lace Museum, the Plauen Lace Manufactory Modespitze — the city owes its worldwide reputation to lace. The Plauen Lace Festival, first held in 1959, celebrates precisely this identity. In 2026, it coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Vogtland District — a double occasion for a particularly festive edition.
Program June 19–21, 2026
For three days, Plauen's city center will transform into a festival mile. Several stages on Altmarkt, Klostermarkt, and Tunnelplatz will entertain the audience with live music, pipe bands, and a dance marathon. Highlight of the weekend: ESC star Michael Schulte will perform on the Altmarkt. In addition, there will be public viewing of the World Cup qualifiers (Germany vs. Côte d'Ivoire), the summer cinema in Lutherpark, a band competition, and the Dorfkind-Radio party with SAMU from Mallorca. The "Blaulichtmeile" (Blue Light Mile) will showcase police, fire department, THW, and rescue services in action.
SPITZEN-CLASSICS — Premiere 2026
A special novelty in 2026 is SPITZEN-CLASSICS — a vintage car rally on Friday, June 19. Historic vehicles will start from various points in the Vogtland region and meet in Plauen's city center. A tribute to the mobile past, which fits perfectly with the 65th edition of the festival.
Spitz'nKidz — Family Day on Sunday
On Sunday, June 21, Plauen belongs to families: The Spitz'nKidz family festival around Lutherpark offers a colorful children's program with carousels, shows, craft activities, children's concerts, and hands-on stations. In parallel, on Saturday, June 20, from 2 PM to 4 PM, a traditional swap meet for Lace Festival badge collectors will take place in the Fabrik der Fäden.
Saxony, Vogtland, and Plauen
Plauen is located in the Vogtland district in southwestern Saxony, near the border with Bavaria and the Czech Republic. With around 64,000 inhabitants, it is the largest city in the Vogtland. Besides Plauen Lace, the Lutherkirche (Luther Church), the city archive in the historic Tunnelschloss castle, and the Vogtlandtheater shape the city's profile. The Lace Festival, along with the Plauener Frühling and the Plauener Festwoche, is the central event and an economic and tourist highlight of the year for the city.
