Grill culture, live music, and crafts on the factory premises of the stainless steel grill manufacturer
THÜROS is Germany's leading manufacturer of stainless steel grills. For decades, the company has been producing high-quality outdoor grills in Georgenthal — from compact table grills to smoker versions, all handmade from stainless steel. The Thürosfest is the company's summer event: an open house combined with a barbecue festival that connects regional roots with the world of products.
The focus of the festival is on grill demonstrations with various THÜROS models: live demonstrations of direct and indirect grilling, smoking and smoker techniques, steak and fish grilling, and vegetarian options. Professional grillers and hobby chefs show what is possible with the equipment. In parallel, there is a specialty and craft market — regional producers offer Thuringian sausages, cheese, honey, jams, liqueurs, wood crafts, and blacksmith work. Local associations from Georgenthal provide the catering — bratwurst directly from the THÜROS grill, beer on tap, coffee, and homemade cake.
On both festival days, live bands play on a stage in the factory premises — mostly regional cover bands with rock, pop, and folk music repertoires. For children, there is a play area with a bouncy castle, carousel, and children's activities. The family program makes the Thürosfest attractive even for those not interested in grilling — a classic summer festival with a culinary focus.
Georgenthal is located in the Gotha district in the state of Thuringia, on the northern edge of the Thuringian Forest. The municipality has about 4,000 inhabitants and is known for the former Cistercian monastery Georgenthal (founded in 1143), whose monastery church and brewery are still preserved today. The monastic tradition shapes the town: the Klosterhotel, the historic Klostermühle, and the Klostermuseum are popular excursion destinations. With the Thürosfest, a modern element is added to the festival calendar — industrial culture and tradition meet.
On July 25 and 26, 2026, THÜROS will open its factory premises in Georgenthal for the annual Thürosfest. Grill demonstrations with various stainless steel grills, a regional market with around 30 exhibitors, live music on stage, and catering by local associations will transform the workshops and outdoor area into a festival ground.
