Rustic wooden huts, craft workshop, and stage program in front of the baroque Drostei
The Drosteiplatz in Pinneberg is one of the most beautiful squares in Schleswig-Holstein: a baroque Drostei building in the background, old trees, and a cohesive urban ensemble. The adjacent grove along Bismarckstraße continues the ensemble. Both areas are used for the Christmas village — wooden huts, illuminated fir trees, a small stage, and standing areas with high tables.
Around 40 wooden huts are lined up on the square and in Bismarckstraße. The assortment ranges from traditional handicrafts (wood carvings, candles, knitwear, ceramics) and regional foods (honey, jams, bread, sausage, cheese) to jewelry and leather goods. A special feature is the gnome hut: here, Pinneberg schools, kindergartens, and non-profit associations sell homemade products to benefit their projects.
The craft workshop is open Monday–Friday 2–7 PM, Saturdays and Sundays 12–7 PM — with childcare, making it a regular meeting point for young families. Santa Claus visits every Saturday and Sunday from 4–6 PM. On December 6th, the St. Nicholas lantern procession takes place from 6 PM — starting at the Drostei, participants with lanterns are welcome. Bands like Lucky Birds and Van Steef perform on stage on several evenings.
Pinneberg is the district town of the district of the same name in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, immediately northwest of Hamburg. The Christmas village attracts not only residents of Pinneberg but also families from Hamburg who arrive by S-Bahn. The event is organized by Stadtmarketing Pinneberg e.V. in cooperation with the initiative “Für Pinneberg".
As in previous years, the Christmas Village opens around four weeks before Christmas. The official opening will take place on Wednesday, November 25th, 2026 — usually at 6 PM with the mayor and an opening concert. The detailed program for the stage evenings and concerts will be published in November.
As every year, Stadtmarketing Pinneberg e.V. organizes the festival in cooperation with the initiative “Für Pinneberg".
