One Village, One Festival

Pietzpuhl is a district of the municipality of Möser in the Jerichower Land district – a village of a few hundred inhabitants in the eastern Magdeburger Börde, framed by fields and forests and located roughly halfway between Magdeburg and Genthin. In June every year, the sports field here opens for the village festival: one of those events without which rural Saxony-Anhalt would be unthinkable – driven by the commitment of the Volunteer Fire Brigade, the Pietzpuhl 2000 e.V. Local History Society, and the other local clubs.

A Reliable Concept

The program follows the typical pattern for village festivals in the region: Welcome by club representatives in the afternoon, coffee and homemade cake from the cake bazaars of the local clubs, games and bouncy castles for the children, followed by a barbecue, music from a DJ or live band in the evening, and a convivial get-together that often lasts until after midnight. The fire brigade provides sausages and drinks, while the local history society presents historical exhibitions or pictorial material from old village chronicles.

The Pietzpuhl Village Festival is a prime example of what festival culture in the state of Saxony-Anhalt is all about beyond the major cities: a meeting point that connects generations, where former residents visit their hometown and new neighbors introduce themselves for the first time. Anyone arriving from Magdeburg or Burg via the country road will find a genuine village experience here – far from the tourist hustle and bustle, but with its very own charm.
