Largest city festival in the Jerichower Land — 20th anniversary in Goethepark
A Roland has stood in the cityscape of Burg near Magdeburg for centuries. This stone figure, found in many northern German Hanseatic cities, represents civic freedom, market rights, and self-governance. Since 1999, the district town in the Jerichower Land has celebrated the memory of this tradition with the Rolandfest — every two years, in Goethepark in the middle of the old town, now the largest city festival in the district.
The anniversary edition runs from June 13th to 14th, 2026. Saturday is the "Day of the Region" program: club stands, Roland figures, and live music by the pop-rock-soul duo Tila Brea & Tommy A., hosted by radio-SAW presenter Freddy Holzapfel. In the evening, Warren Green takes the stage, followed by radio-SAW-Dancers, the live band EMPIRE with Schlager, NDW, Rock, and Chart hits, and from 11 PM, star DJ Enrico Ostendorf, known for "In The Mix" on 54 stations since 1998. Sunday follows with the Day of the Associations in Goethepark, featuring an ecumenical festival service, brass band, acrobatics by the Wilden Zwerge, and line dancing.
Burg is located in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, Jerichower Land district (AGS 15086), about a half-hour drive east of Magdeburg. Goethepark is a green oasis in the center, ideal for a festival under old trees. Over 20 regional sponsors support the Rolandfest, and admission remains free — a matter of course for a city festival that sees itself as a community event.
For its 20th birthday, Rolandfest 2026 pulls out all the stops: two days of programming in Goethepark, media partner radio SAW, a headline DJ from the national charts scene, and an entire Sunday dedicated solely to Burg's associations. This clearly positions the festival between traditional Volksfest and modern city party.
By car via the A2, exit Burg-Ost or Burg-Zentrum, approx. 25 min. from Magdeburg. By train: Burg (bei Magdeburg) station, then a 15-min. walk to the old town and Goethepark. Parking in surrounding streets is free, but can be tight on festival weekends.
Completely free. No tickets required.
Several food stalls, beer stands run by Burg clubs, children's carousels. Goethepark is largely accessible, all stages are at ground level.
Hotels in the old town (Hotel zur Kapelle, Steiger Hotel Burg) and holiday apartments in the Jerichower Land — book early, as Rolandfest 2026 falls on the Pentecost weekend.
