Symphony in the Konzertkirche

The Philharmonische Konzerte form the central symphony concert series of the Neubrandenburger Philharmonie. In the 2025/2026 season, ten concerts are scheduled — performed in the Konzertkirche Neubrandenburg, the Gothic St. Mary's Church, which was converted into a performance venue in 2001 according to the design of Finnish architect Pekka Salminen, with a modern concert hall made of glass, concrete, steel, and wood.

Programme for the 2025/2026 Season

The series presents major works of symphonic literature. Highlights of the first half of 2026 include:

  • 9 April 2026 — Rachmaninoff: Symphony No. 3, with pianist Katharina Treutler as soloist
  • 4 June 2026 — Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 3 and Schumann: Symphony No. 4

The spectrum ranges from classical to romantic and modern periods. General Music Director Daniel Geiss, chief conductor of the orchestra since the beginning of the 2023/24 season, shapes the artistic direction of the series.

An Orchestra with History

The Neubrandenburger Philharmonie was founded in 1950 as a city orchestra and developed into one of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's most important ensembles. Today, it is part of the Theater und Orchester GmbH Neubrandenburg/Neustrelitz (TOG) and performs both in the Konzertkirche and as a touring orchestra in the region.

Neubrandenburg as a City of Music

Neubrandenburg is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District district in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. With the Philharmonische Konzerte, the city of four gates has a continuous, high-calibre classical music series.

Philharmonische Konzerte — edition 2026

In the first half of 2026, the Neubrandenburger Philharmonie continues its Philharmonische Konzerte of the 2025/2026 season in the Konzertkirche. Highlights include Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 3 on April 9th with Katharina Treutler, and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 and Schumann's Symphony No. 4 on June 4th. Conducted by GMD Daniel Geiss.

The 2025/2026 season of the Neubrandenburger Philharmonie includes ten Philharmonische Konzerte in the Konzertkirche Neubrandenburg. The first half of 2026 features several major symphony concerts.

General Music Director Daniel Geiss leads the series, which spans from classical to romantic and modern periods. The orchestra performs in the modern concert hall of the Gothic St. Mary's Church.
