Largest Volksfest on the lower Inn – seven days of Pfingstdult with festival tent, rides, and tradition
The PfingstDult Simbach has been the largest Volksfest on the lower Inn for generations. The town of Simbach am Inn is located directly opposite Braunau am Inn (Upper Austria) and traditionally attracts guests from both sides of the border. The Volksfest combines Bavarian customs with the special atmosphere of a border region and is a firm fixture in the Pentecost program for many communities in the Rottal-Inn district and the neighboring Innviertel.
The PfingstDult program is one of the most densely packed in Lower Bavaria. Each festival day has its own theme: Club Day on Thursday, Business and Social Day on Friday, Pentecost Saturday as Traditional Costume Evening, Pentecost Sunday as Social Day with the traditional boxing match, Family Day on Pentecost Monday, Brass Music Night on Tuesday, and Folk Music Night on Wednesday. Every evening, the large festival tent fills up with its own band selection, complemented by show bands and nationally renowned folk music artists.
For 2026, the large festival tent has been completely renovated: The new ZeilerZelt features modern tent design, improved acoustics, and a more open interior. Festival host Markus Zeiler, whose name graces the Volksfest and the festival tent, combines traditional hospitality with modern event technology – reservations are possible online.
In addition to the festival tent, the Dultplatz is filled with the classic rides of a large Lower Bavarian Dult: roller coaster, Ferris wheel, bumper cars, chain carousel, shooting gallery, raffles, candy stalls, roasted almonds, and the standard Bavarian cuisine of roast chicken, grilled fish on a stick, stick bread, pretzels, and fresh draft beer.
Simbach am Inn is located in the Rottal-Inn district in Lower Bavaria, in the state of Bavaria. Its direct location on the Austrian border makes the town an important economic and transport hub, and the Volksfest its cultural calling card. With the reorganization in 2024-2025 and the new tent in 2026, the PfingstDult is embarking on the next chapter of its long history.
The 2026 Pfingstdult is the first full edition in the new ZeilerZelt with modern design and improved acoustics. Festival host Markus Zeiler combines the traditional atmosphere with contemporary event technology. Reservations are possible online, and admission to the festival tent is free. Each festival day features its own band or show act, along with traditional highlights such as the Schafkopf tournament on Pentecost Saturday and the traditional boxing match on Pentecost Sunday.
